Vikings S Anthony Harris named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

After finishing with two interceptions and a fumble recovery in the Vikings’ 24-12 Week 1 victory over the Falcons, safety Anthony Harris has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

It’s the first such award for the fifth-year safety and the fifth for defensive backs in Mike Zimmer’s time with the Vikings.

Two fun facts from Vikings PR:

  • Harris’ four interceptions since Week 11 of the 2018 season are tied for most in the NFL.
  • The Vikings have now had an NFC Player of the Week in four consecutive season openers.

This is good timing for Harris as he’ll hit free agency next offseason.

Harris earned a Pro Football Focus grade of 92.5 for his efforts, a mark that ranks first among safeties in the NFL.

Last season, he finished with a grade of 89.
