Vikings run defense will be tested by Ezekiel Elliott

Mike Zimmer and the Vikings can’t be thrilled after allowing a season-high 147 rushing yards to the Chiefs in Week 9.

Things won’t get any easier as the Vikings go up against Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.

The Cowboys rank fourth in the league in rushing yards and Elliott is on his way to another Pro Bowl performance with 741 rushing yards and six touchdowns through eight games. He also has 24 receptions for 176 yards. With his 139 yards against the Giants, Elliott has now eclipsed the 100-yard mark in three-straight games.

The Vikings rank ninth in rushing yards allowed this season, and have allowed just two touchdowns, a mark that ranks first in the NFL.

In fairness to the Vikings and the 147 yards they gave up to the Chiefs, 91 of those yards came on one play from Damien Williams. I get that’s part of it, but allowing big plays like that is not something Vikings fans are used to.

They’ll try to flip the script against Elliott and the Cowboys.
