With starting running back Dalvin Cook sitting out of Friday’s preseason opener, we were able to get a good look at Vikings third-round pick Alexander Mattison.
Mattison ran the ball a team-high nine times in Friday’s 34-25 win, totaling 30 yards. He also caught a one-yard pass for a touchdown on the opening drive.
Again, in your fantasy football leagues, if you can handcuff Mattison to Cook, that’d be a good idea. He’s going to get plenty of looks, similar to how Latavius Murray did in the past.
Mattison is the clear RB2 for the Vikings, and considering Cook’s injury history, there’s a good bet we’ll see him plenty during his rookie season.
