Vikings rookie C Garrett Bradbury earns rough PFF grade in Week 1

The Vikings drafted center Garrett Bradbury to improve the team’s offensive line in 2019. While the Vikings beat the Falcons 28-12 in Week 1, the folks over at Pro Football Focus say that wasn’t because of Bradbury.

Bradbury received a PFF grade of just 35.1. Here’s what Mark Chichester wrote about Bradbury:

Things did not go well for the North Carolina State product in Week 1, especially in pass protection. Granted, he played only 14 pass-blocking snaps as the Vikings looked to establish the run, but if you include plays that were nullified by penalty, Bradbury allowed two hurries and suffered three additional “losses,” ending the game with a 0.0 pass-blocking grade. Bradbury’s now the 10th center in PFF history to have ended a single-season game with a 0.0 grade in pass protection.

It’s always tough to judge the performance of offensive linemen. But if there are problems with Bradbury, the Vikings will address that and he will get better.

The Vikings did have more than 170 rushing yards in Week 1, so Bradbury had to have been doing something right.
