Vikings reporter on Anthony Harris: ‘I still think they’re open to the possibility of trading him’

Anthony Harris was given the franchise tag from Minnesota, but his long-term future with the team is still up in the air.

Harris reportedly wants a long-term deal with either Minnesota or some other team. However, the Vikings have reportedly acknowledged to teams that Harris could be “had for a mid-to-late round draft pick,” a source told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Ben Goessling, who covers the Vikings for the Star Tribune, had this to say on KFAN about Harris’ current situation with the Vikings.

“I still think they’re open to the possibility of trading him,” Goessling said.

Goessling went on to say that he talked on KFAN last week about the possibility of Cleveland landing Harris in a trade. However, the Browns went out and reportedly signed for Vikings safety Andrew Sendejo in free agency.

” I wouldn’t take Andrew Sendejo as a sign that [the Browns are] closed off from doing something else, but I think it’s possible to hear now that they’ve cleared a little bit of room, that maybe they could come up with a deal for Anthony Harris,” Goessling said on KFAN. “That it’s a long-term thing that reduces his cap hit this year and keeps him in Minnesota.”

It will be interesting to see if Harris is with the Vikings this season and seasons to come.
