Vikings reportedly showing strong interest in Josh McDaniels as next head coach

The Minnesota Vikings are among three teams strongly considering hiring Josh McDaniels as their next head coach. Who wouldn’t be interested in a six-time Super Bowl champion that has coached Tom Brady and served under the Bill Belichick coaching umbrella.

It makes sense.

Per Houston Texans reporter Aaron Wilson, via Greg A. Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal, McDaniels will not be taking any interviews while the Patriots are in the postseason. So the time that he could actually sit down and have a conversation with the Vikings depends on how deep the Patriots go in the playoffs.

It still works out in Minnesota’s favor considering they’re still looking to hire a general manager to help the team make a decision on the head coach.

Former Philadelphia Eagles coach Doug Pederson is the other big name floating around out there as a possibility. We’ve also talked about how fun it would be to see University of Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh leave college football and return to the NFL to join the Vikings.

There are a lot of exciting opportunities out there, and the Vikings won’t hesitate to explore all of them.
