Vikings release CB Mark Fields, sign LB Devante Downs from practice squad

After trading a seventh-round pick to the Chiefs to acquire cornerback Mark Fields, the Vikings announced they have released Fields on Saturday.

Fields was injured with a groin injury, so that was likely part of it.

Filling his spot on the roster will be linebacker Devante Downs, who was promoted from the practice squad.

Downs was a 2018 seventh-round pick out of California.
