Vikings running back Dalvin Cook will reportedly refrain from team-related activities until he receives a reasonable deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Without Cook, Minnesota would be missing a key piece of its offense.
According to NFL Spin Zone’s recent power rankings, the Vikings would be missing the seventh best running back in the NFL. Here’s what the outlet said about Cook:
“In 14 starts, Cook amassed 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns while averaging 4.5 yards per attempt. He also added 519 yards in the passing game, giving him 1,654 yards from scrimmage, the seventh-most in the NFL. However, fans still wonder if Cook can stay healthy in the long run. He’s got the talent, but Cook’s injury history is frightening.”
Despite the ongoing situation with Cook, Vikings offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak told reporters that he isn’t worried about the running back being ready to go in Week 1 against the Packers.
“Dalvin could teach class. He’s that bright and that smart of a football player,” Kubiak told the Star Tribune’s Andrew Krammer and other reporters. “It’s part of the business, and guys like him, professionals like him take care of themselves.”
