Vikings RB Dalvin Cook listed as most ‘transformed’ player after Week 1

After a rocky 2018 season in which Vikings running back Dalvin Cook was trying to recover from a torn ACL while also hampering a hamstring injury, Cook looked fantastic in Week 1 of the 2019 NFL season.

In the team’s 24-12 win over the Falcons, Cook ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns to go with two catches for nine yards.

That led to Chris Wesseling naming Cook his most-transformed players after Week 1.

Here’s a snippet of what Wesseling wrote about Cook:

Returning from an ACL injury that derailed his rookie campaign, Cook never found a sustained groove behind a beleaguered offensive line and shaky play-calling last season. He looked reborn this summer in godsend Gary Kubiak’s outside-zone run scheme, exploding for an 85-yard touchdown run in limited preseason action. That momentum carried over to Week 1, as he sliced and diced Atlanta’s defense for 120 yards and a pair of scores on 23 touches, showcasing physicality, agility and an extra gear that were too often missing in 2018.

Having a healthy Cook would be so huge for this Vikings offense, and would open the door for Kirk Cousins and the passing game.

We’ll see if Cook can keep it up in Week 2 against the Packers, a team that allowed just 46 rushing yards in Week 1 against the Bears.
