We’ve written here about the fantasy potential of Vikings rookie running back Alexander Mattison.
In Pro Football Focus’ rookie fantasy draft, Mattison was a third-round pick, which seems about right.
Mattison will be backing up Dalvin Cook. And while Cook is clearly the RB1, he has missed 17 games in his career. There are some injury concerns and Mattison will get the first opportunity if Cook goes down.
Mattison ran for 17 touchdowns last season at Boise State and while some think the Vikings reached for him in the third round, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer is excited about the rookie.
If Mattison is there in the third round of your rookie draft, take a chance on him. Recent history says he’ll get an opportunity in Minnesota.
