Vikings, RB Aaron Jones Agree to One-Year Contract

The Minnesota Vikings will sign running back Aaron Jones after the Green Bay Packers released the veteran on Monday, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported Tuesday morning. The deal will be for one year and $7 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Jones spent the first seven seasons of his career in Green Bay, rushing for over 1,000 yards three times and scoring 63 total touchdowns. He was under contract with the Packers for the 2024 season, but Green Bay released him after Jones declined to take a pay cut when the Packers agreed to a deal with free agent running back Josh Jacobs on Monday.

Aaron Jones reportedly will sign a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings.

Instead, Jones will now play for the NFC North-rival Vikings, who compiled just 1,553 rushing yards as a team in 2023. Minnesota will feature a re-made offense next season, as the team also reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with quarterback Sam Darnold after the reported departure of Kirk Cousins to Atlanta.
