Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins calls his contract a ‘win-win’

Kirk Cousins recently agreed to an extension with the Vikings, likely keeping the quarterback in Minnesota for the near future and lessening the cap hit for 2020.

Cousins considers that a win-win.

“It was a no-brainer for me to want to be back with the Vikings and try to find a way to make it work, and I think it’s a win-win,” Cousins told the Pioneer Press and other outlets on a zoom call. “It’s great to be able to create some cap space for this year and to be able to solidify that I and my family can be back in Minnesota for a couple of seasons and hopefully beyond that. I want to play well enough to where I can be here beyond that, too.”

Cousins agreed to a two-year, $66 million extension. For all things considered, the Vikings got pretty good value for a pretty good quarterback. His average salary per year is relatively on par with the Eagles’ Carson Wentz, the Cowboys’ Dak Prescott and the Falcons’ Matt Ryan, according to Over the Cap.
