Vikings QBs shine in 34-25 preseason win over Saints

The Vikings took down the Saints 34-25 on Friday night in New Orleans to come away with their first preseason win of the 2019 season.

While there were a few takeaways, one was how good the quarterback play was.

Kirk Cousins was 4-for-4, throwing for 65 yards and a touchdown. Sean Mannion was 7-for-13, throwing for 102 yards and a touchdown. Kyle Sloter was 6-for-7, throwing for 62 yards and a touchdown. And even Jake Browning, the undrafted free agent, was 2-for-3 for 18 yards.

No interceptions.

That has to be a good feeling for that group, along with offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski, who enters his first full season as coordinator.

The depth chart after the first preseason game probably still looks like Cousins as the starter, Mannion as the backup, while Slote and Browning split third-team reps.

It’s only preseason, and we shouldn’t overreact too much, but you’d rather have your quarterbacks play well than not.
