Vikings projected to receive 3 compensatory picks in 2020 draft

The Vikings lost some key free agents this offseason, but they’ll likely get compensated somewhat for that in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Per NFL.com, the Vikings are projected to receive three compensatory picks in the draft: A third-round pick thanks to Sheldon Richardson’s departure, a sixth-round pick from Nick Easton and a seventh-round pick from Latavius Murray.

There’s also an outside chance the team could get a pick from guard Tom Compton.

This is where signing veterans for short-term deals can pay off for teams. We’ve seen teams like the Ravens and Patriots benefit from the compensatory draft in the past. The Vikings are joining that group, at least for 2020.

The Vikings have all of their picks for next year’s draft, and these three compensatory picks would put the Vikings at 10 total picks, which just happens to be Rick Spielman’s magic draft number.
