Vikings players announce that ‘many’ of them will not attend voluntary, in-person workouts

Minnesota is the one of the latest teams to have players exercising their right to not attend voluntary, in-person workouts.

The Vikings are one of 20 NFL teams that have made this announcement. In a statement via the NFL Players Association, the Vikings players cited the ongoing threat of COVID-19 and the inadequate safety procedures recommended by the league. The players also said the decision was informed by the dramatic drop in injuries in 2020.

“This is the safest path forward for us and our families,” the Vikings players said in a statement.

This move comes after it was reported that the Vikings are allowing players to do Phase 1 of offseason workouts virtually. Minnesota was set to start up virtual workouts on Monday.
