Vikings place multiple starters on the reserve/COVID-19 list

The Minnesota Vikings are parting ways with backup quarterback Kyle Sloter and sending multiple players to the reserve/COVID-19 list, including leading-tackler Eric Kendricks.

Sloter was signed to the roster back in December after the other backup, Sean Mannion, was placed on the COVID list. Mannion has since returned and started at quarterback with rookie Kellen Mond as his top backup in Sunday’s 37-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

The team is playing without Kirk Cousins, who was placed on the COVID list last Friday.

Kendricks is a tough loss because he’s clearly one of the team’s best defensive players. The former All-Pro linebacker has 143 total tackles on the season with five sacks.

Other names on the reserve/COVID-19 list include three starting offensive linemen—Christian Darrisaw, Ezra Cleveland and Brian O’Neill—and safety Camryn Bynum.

The next stop on the itinerary for the Vikings is the season finale against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
