Vikings OT Ezra Cleveland: ‘I want to get on the field in any role’

Vikings offensive tackle Ezra Cleveland was asked about being a starter in his first NFL season. Cleveland didn’t definitively say that he wanted to be in the starting lineup. He said something a little different.

“I want to get on the field in any role. I’m a team guy. I’m kind of rolling with the punches. I’ll play where they want me,” Cleveland told Bob Sansevere of the Pioneer Press.

That mentality might bode well for Cleveland, who some consider a project player until he finds his stride in the NFL.

Cleveland, who played college football for Boise State, was drafted in the second round of the NFL draft this season. Who was the first person who reached out? Cleveland said that person was Vikings running back Alexander Mattison, who played with Cleveland in college.

“Boise State is a fantastic school. They win games, and it’s a fantastic school with great people. What more can you ask for?”
