Vikings OC Gary Kubiak: WR Justin Jefferson will play in the slot quite a bit

Vikings offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak was appointed to his role this offseason after serving as offensive advisor for Minnesota in 2019.

Though Kubiak hasn’t had a ton of time on the job, he got to telling reporters how an aspect of the offense will probably run in 2020, specifically in regards to the team’s rookie first-round wide receiver.

Here’s what Kubiak said about Justin Jefferson, a player out of LSU, playing in the slot next season:

“That’s something he’s exceptional at,” Kubiak told Chad Graff of The Athletic and other reporters. Kubiak added that it would be fair to say Jefferson will “move inside quite a bit.”

If that’s the case, it definitely adds an interesting wrinkle to the Vikings offense. It’s not really surprising, however, considering Jefferson played in the slot for LSU a lot and thrived there.

Jefferson earned second-team All-SEC accolades in this past collegiate season. In his final collegiate season with LSU, Jefferson had 111 receptions for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns.
