Vikings’ Mike Zimmer explains why Titans are tough to stop in red zone

Dating back to last year, the Tennessee Titans have been incredibly successful in the red zone — and Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer explained why he thinks that is on Wednesday.

Tennessee has picked up where it left off last season in the red zone. After scoring a touchdown on 77.36 percent of their red zone trips in 2019, the Titans have found pay dirt on 85.71 percent of their 2020 red zone trips.

Zimmer pointed to all the ways the Titans can attack a defense in the red zone to explain why it’s so tough to stop them in that area.

The Vikings have allowed their first two opponents — the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts — to make a combined total of 10 trips to the red zone thus far in 2020 and have allowed a touchdown on half of them.

We’ll see if Minnesota can keep Tennessee’s red zone offense in check when these two teams meet at noon CDT on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
