Vikings meeting with Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald Wednesday

The Vikings are in the market for a quarterback depth and that could come in the NFL draft.

Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald is making a pre-draft visit with the Vikings.

The Vikings met with Sean Mannion earlier this week, but Mannion left without a deal.

Fitzgerald is a dual-threat quarterback who ran for 1,121 yards and 13 touchdowns last season while throwing for 1,767 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

He’ll likely be a late-round pick or an undrafted free agent. The Vikings have two sixth-round and two seventh-round picks.

He has the physical traits, but his decision making can be suspect and accuracy is a problem — you know, two major skills quarterbacks must have.

The Vikings could try something like the Saints have done with Taysom Hill, using him more as a runner in short-yard situations.

Fitzgerald is another name to keep an eye on as we get closer to the 2019 NFL Draft.
