Vikings’ Kris Boyd could benefit from Holton Hill’s suspension

With Holton Hill suspended for the first eight games of the 2018 season, there’s one name who stands out to benefit the most.

Rookie Kris Boyd will see more reps in practice, and if he takes advantage of them, he could find himself with a bigger role than expected on this Vikings team.

“Those guys have really paid attention to the details and the things that we’re trying to get taught here early,” Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards said of Boyd and fellow rookie Marcus Epps on Thursday. “They’ve had pretty good recall from what we did in the spring. So, we’re just looking for them to come out here and continually get better, get experience and understand exactly what we’re asking them to do.”

Boyd was a seventh-round pick by the Vikings in the 2019 NFL Draft, hailing from Texas.

Ironically, Boyd was teammates with Hill at Texas from 2015-17 and the two are friends.

Funny how things work out.

Throughout training camp and preseason, Boyd is someone who has a lot on the line as far as role goes.
