Vikings’ Kirk Cousins takes step back in QB rankings

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins threw the ball just 10 times in Week 1 against the Falcons, completing eight passes for 98 yards and a touchdown.

Pretty tough to grade Cousins too much from that, but in NFL.com’s Week 2 quarterback rankings, Cousins fell from No. 14 to No. 15.

Here’s a snippet of what was written about Cousins:

Mike Zimmer’s ultimate football fantasy played out in front of his very eyes in the season opener, as the Vikings ran the ball 38 times while Cousins attempted just 10 passes in the team’s 28-12 win over the Falcons. Minnesota’s QB1 did make the most of his opportunities, however, hitting Adam Thielen in stride with a perfectly placed dart for the Vikings’ first touchdown of the game, and then dropping a 31-yard dime right into Stefon Diggs’ hands late in the third quarter to help set up the team’s final score of the day.

You get the feeling that Cousins will need to throw more than 10 times in Week 2 against the Packers at Lambeau Field.

To round out the NFC North quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers ranks third, Matthew Stafford ranks 18th and Mitchell Trubisky ranked 25th.
