Vikings K Dan Bailey to face off against former team in Dallas

For the first time since being released by the Cowboys on Sept. 1, 2018, kicker Dan Bailey will be going up against his former squad on Sunday night as a member of the Vikings.

The game will be in Dallas.

Bailey was with the Cowboys from 2011-17 and hit 88.2 percent of his kicks during his time there. When he was released, it was a bit of a surprise, but he did hit just 15 of 20 field goals in 2017.

The Vikings signed Bailey after the Daniel Carlson experiment failed (at least in Minnesota). In 23 games with the Vikings, Bailey has made 79.1 percent of his field goals and 94.8 percent of his extra points. He’s been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Year twice this year.

The guy who Dallas picked over Bailey has had pretty similar production. Brett Maher has hit 77.8 percent of his kickers over the last plus.

There’s a chance that whoever kicks better will be on the winning team for this one.
