After accouting for 13 of the team’s 19 points in Thursday night’s win over the Redskins, Vikings kicker Dan Bailey was named the Week 8 NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Bailey was 4-for-4 on field goals, including one from 50 yards out, and 1-for-1 on extra points.
It’s the second time Bailey has won the award this season.
In his first full season with the Vikings, Bailey is having quite the run, connecting on 12 of 14 field goals and 23 of 24 extra points.
In comparison to last season when Bailey was just 21-for-28 on field goals.
Bailey is tied for 10th in the NFL with his 85.7 field goal percentage. He’s tied with, of course, Vikings fifth-round pick from a season ago, Daniel Carlson. The Vikings released Carlson for Bailey and now Carlson kicks for the Raiders.
We’ll see if Bailey can keep up his hot streak in Week 9 when the Vikings travel to play the Chiefs in Kansas City.
