Vikings have inquired about DT Ra’Shede Hageman

The Vikings need depth at defensive tackle.

The answer could be in their home state.

Per Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press, the Vikings have inquired about free agent Ra’Shede Hageman.

Hageman is a former Minnesota Golden Gopher and grew up in Minnesota.

The 2014 second-round pick last played in 2016. He was released by the Falcons in 2017 as a result of domestic violence-related charges.

Obviously, there’s a risk there, especially someone who might disrupt what seems to be a pretty strong locker room.

In three seasons, Hageman started 16 games and had 61 tackles and 4.0 sacks.

It sounds like Hageman is ready for a return to the league.

“I’m probably in the best shape of my life just for the fact that I’ve been spending a year and half away from football with nothing to do but work and train,” Hageman said via the Pioneer Press. “Whatever team I end up playing with, they’re going to get a hard, hungry, humble player.”

Hageman would be a cheap, affordable contract, which is certainly something the Vikings are in the market for given their cap situation.
