Vikings have 2 players make PFF’s preseason Week 2 Team of the Week

After Sunday night’s preseason win over the Seahawks, the Vikings had two players make Pro Football Focus’ Team of the Week.

Offensively, center Brett Jones made the team with a PFF grade of 90.5.

Here’s a blurb from PFF on Jones:

From 29 pass-blocking snaps, he didn’t allow a sack, hit or hurry. He was even more impressive as a run-blocker, producing a PFF run-blocking grade of 90.0 to top all other players at the position.

Defensively, safety Harrison Smith made the team with a PFF grade of 90.2.

Here’s a blurb from PFF on Smith:

Smith was on the field for just 17 snaps on Sunday but still made his presence felt. In coverage, he had a pass breakup, while his lone tackle of the day resulted in a defensive stop. He has played just 32 snaps this preseason but looks ready for another big year.

It’s promising to see two players who will impact the Vikings on the field in 2019 have solid games in preseason. Obviously, it’s more Smith than Jones, but Jones will likely be a rotational interior offensive lineman for this team and should get plenty of snaps.

In Week 1 of presesason, no Vikings made PFF’s team.
