Vikings go to No. 17 in NFL.com power rankings

The Vikings ranked 20th in last week’s NFL.com power rankings and why wouldn’t they have?

Minnesota was 0-3, with a horrendous pass coverage that gave up huge plays and a struggling quarterback. OK, so one game may not be a fix for both those things, but the Vikings at least looked better than they did in any other weeks.

Minnesota’s Week 4 win vs. Houston helped it move to No. 17 on the NFL.com power rankings this week. Here’s what the outlet said about the Vikings:

“The Vikings took their season off life support with a narrow win over the Texans, and it looks like Gary Kubiak’s offense has found its footing. It all goes through Dalvin Cook, of course, the superstar running back who never seems to get the pub of his similarly gifted contemporaries. When Cook (130 yards rushing, two TDs) is right, it makes life much easier for Kirk Cousins, who — for all his strengths — isn’t the type of quarterback who can put an offense on his back. There are still concerns about the defense, which needed a goal-line stop in the final minute of the game (aided by an overturned Will Fuller touchdown reception) to avoid a consecutive second-half collapse.”

If Fuller V comes down with that ball, the Texans are back in the game and this power rankings could be a lot different. But teams have to be lucky to be good, especially the then-0-3 Vikings.
