Vikings GM Rick Spielman: “We have no intent to sign Percy Harvin.”

Former Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin is planning an NFL comeback.

“I thought I was done, but that itch came back,” Harvin told ESPN’s Josina Anderson on Tuesday.

At 31, Harvin is still young enough to possibly come back and be effective, whether that be in a reduced role at wide receiver or on special teams in the return game.

That does not mean Harvin is going to be wearing purple and gold in 2020. Vikings general manager Rick Spielman shut down the notion that Harvin could come to the Vikings now that he wants another shot at the NFL.

“We have no intent to sign Percy Harvin” Spielman said on PFT PM recently.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that Spielman said at the NFL Combine the Vikings had no intention of trading Diggs and then, well, traded him.

Spielman also said the team had no intent of trading Harvin in 2013, according to the Star Tribune. Then, Harvin was traded to the Seahawks. So I wouldn’t rule it out just because Spielman said the Vikings have no intent of signing Harvin as of now.

Harvin tallied 3,302 receiving yards with the Vikings, the most with any team he played for in the NFL. Besides the Seahawks and Vikings, he briefly played for the Bills and the Jets.
