Vikings fan wears custom Patrick Mahomes jersey to Chiefs vs. Vikings game

The mania for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is far-reaching.

Ahead of today’s Chiefs-Vikings game, many took notice of the number of Minnesota fans in attendance. At least one of those fans was disappointed that he traveled all this way to Arrowhead Stadium and didn’t get a chance to see Mahomes play against his team.

Brittany Matthews — queen of Chiefs Kingdom and Mahomes’ girlfriend — spotted a peculiar jersey during the course of the game. The jersey featured Mahomes’ name on it but it was the wrong color. It was, in fact, a custom Vikings jersey featuring Mahomes’ name and number. Look at the picture she captured down below:

The reactions from the Chiefs Kingdom have been mostly in disgust. A lot of fans are offended to see Mahomes’ name on the back of any other jersey other than a Chiefs jersey. Really this is a cool moment, though. When fans of other teams show up to support your starting quarterback, it’s not exactly a bad thing. You know that you’ve got a special player when other fan bases can appreciate him, want him on their team and want to wear his jersey.

It’s also possible that this fan was previously a fan of Mahomes’ father. The elder Mahomes began his professional baseball career slinging fastballs for the Minnesota Twins. He was with the Twins for five seasons before he took his talents elsewhere.

I have to say that I agree with Brittany’s assessment in her initial tweet. If opposing fans are going to show up in Arrowhead Stadium I’d prefer the ones that show up support the Chiefs quarterback and cheer for him instead of their own team.
