Vikings fall a spot in NFL.com power rankings

The Vikings haven’t played a preseason game, but yet they fell in NFL.com’s updated power rankings.

Minnesota fell from 10 to 11.

Why?

They were leapfrogged by the Seahawks, who traded for safety Jamal Adams. The Seahawks jumped from 13 to nine.

Here’s a bit of what Dan Hanzus wrote about the Vikings:

How different will the offense look with Gary Kubiak in charge? Typically, you’d expect a significant shift when the offensive coordinator leaves town (former OC Kevin Stefanski is now the head coach in Cleveland), but Stefanski actually operated Minnesota’s offense under the principles of Kubiak’s enduring scheme. Kubiak served in an advisor capacity on Mike Zimmer’s staff, and now he’ll settle into a more traditional role with the play-caller duties that come with it.

One challenge Kubiak will have is figuring out how rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson can fit. So far, it doesn’t seem like that will be a problem.

To round out the NFC North, the Packers rank eighth, the Bears rank 24th and the Lions rank 30th.
