Vikings DE Danielle Hunter made NFL history in Week 6

After sacking Carson Wentz in Week 6, Vikings defensive end Danielle Hunter did something no other player had done before.

Pile up 46 or more sacks before turning 25 years old. And to make matters crazier, Hunter still has two more games before he does turn 25.

Hunter has six sacks this season and is on pace for 16 in 2019 after finishing with a career-high 14.5 in 2018. In 2017, Hunter had seven sacks. In 2016, he had 12.5, and as a rookie in 2015, he had six.

This is all pretty remarkable considering Hunter fell to the third round of the 2015 draft out of LSU.

The next closest to Hunter’s sack total from the 2015 draft class is Frank Clark and his 36 sacks.

Hunter is on what should be considered a steal of a contract as well. Hunter signed a five-year, $72 million contract last season with the Vikings. He’s set to be a free agent again in 2023, when he’ll only be 29 years old. If he plays out his current contract, he would have already earned more than $77 million.
