Vikings cut guard Mike Remmers, clear more cap space

The purge continues.

Earlier on Monday, the Vikings parted ways with safety Andrew Sendejo, clearing $5.5 million.

Later on, the Vikings released guard Mike Remmers, clearing another $4.55 million.

Remmers signed a five-year, $30 million deal in 2017 and has been a disappointment in his two seasons with the Vikings.

Last season, Remmers finished with a Pro Football Focus player grade of 59.2, a mark that ranked 48th among guards.

Remmers, 29, has started 27 games for the Vikings over the last two seasons, including all 16 in 2018.

This is the start of an offenisve line overhaul. The Vikings are expected to bring back guard Nick Easton, and it’s been thrown out there that they could move tackle Riley Reiff to guard.

Remmers will get another deal somewhere else, but it’s unclear if he’ll be a starter or depth guy.

In his seven-year career, Remmers has made $15.29 million, per Spotrac.

By releasing both Remmers and Sendejo, the Vikings are now projected to have $13.4 million available per Over The Cap.
