There always seems to be some drama surrounding the Vikings kicking situation.
It continues as we open up 2019 training camp.
Instead of using punter Matt Wile as a field-goal holder, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said the Vikings “maybe” could use wide receivers Adam Thielen and/or Chad Beebe.
It will come down to how comfortable kicker Dan Bailey feels, and it feels like this hints at the fact that he might not be completely comfortable with Wile.
It would also seem this would open the door for more fake field goals in short-yardage situations. Obviously, this isn’t something we’ve seen a lot from a Zimmer coached team, so let’s not get ahead of ourselves. But it’s at least a threat compared to Wile.
We’ll see how the Vikings approach this in preseason play.
