Vikings CB Patrick Peterson treating return to Arizona ‘like another schedule’

The Arizona Cardinals will host the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday, which means a return to State Farm Stadium for Vikings cornerback Patrick Peterson. Peterson, of course, signed with the Vikings in free agency after the Cardinals chose not to re-sign him.

He played 10 years for the Cardinals.

Peterson is downplaying his return to the desert, he told reporters this week.

“I’m treating  it like another game on the schedule,” he said.

He added that “it might be easier said than done,” but that is how he is approaching it.

“In actuality it is another game,” he said. “I have to go out there and be at my best for my team. I have to go out there and be dialed in for 60 minutes not allowing any big plays, not allowing catches, doing whatever I need to do to make sure my guy don’t show up on the stat sheet.”

His guy will likely be mostly Cardinals receiver A.J. Green, who had only two receptions for 25 yards in Week 1.

Peterson will likely get a warm reception from fans in Arizona.

“I’m not expecting anything,” he said. “If it comes, I would definitely welcome it, but at the end of the day, this is a Week 2 game that I’m trying to prepare for and help my guys get in the best position possible to go out there and get the dub.”
