After tearing his ACL in Week 6 last season, Vikings cornerback Mike Hughes will start 2019 training camp on the preseason PUP list.
Hughes, a 2018 first-round pick, is thought to be ahead of schedule, per Vikings coach Mike Zimmer, but there appears to still be some healing to do.
With Holton Hill suspended for the first eight games of the 2019 season, the more bodies the better, but obviously health is the most important thing, especially for a player with so much upside like Hughes.
Even if the Vikings are being precautionary and it lingers into the season, that’s better than the alternative.
