Vikings CB Holton Hill is losing a lot of money

Vikings cornerback Holton Hill is already suspended for the first eight games of the 2019 season for failing two drug tests.

That has, predictably, landed him in coach Mike Zimmer’s doghouse.

Hill might want to extend his lease after Sunday night’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.

In the fourt quarter, with about four minutes left, Hill drilled Seahawks quarterback Paxton Lynch with a helmet-to-helmet hit when Lynch was sliding.

Hill was ejected from the game and will most certainly be fined as well. Hill has already cost himself more than $260,000 with his suspensions, and this will add onto that.

Apart from finances, you have to wonder how patient Zimmer and the Vikings will be with Hill. A reason why Hill went undrafted out of Texas was because of questions around his character. Just a year into his career, we’re starting to see that.

It is worth noting that Zimmer did defend Hill somewhat after the game, pointing out that the rules benefit the quarterbacks running because they can have it both ways.

If the Vikings don’t cut Hill, he’ll be eligible to first play in the regular season in Week 9 against the Chiefs on Nov. 3.
