Vikings are bringing back WR Laquon Treadwell

The Minnesota Vikings are bringing back their 2016 first-round pick Laquon Treadwell. Treadwell was cut before the season began, with Chad Beebe and Bisi Johnson making the 53-man roster over him.

With Beebe going down with an ankle injury last week, the Vikings were in need of some depth at the wide receiver position. Last week, they brought in former Eagles receiver Jordan Matthews for a workout, but it looks like they are going to stick with the familiar face.

Through his first three seasons with the Vikings, Treadwell totaled 517 receiving yards and one touchdown.

He has been labeled as one of the teams biggest busts over the last few years, but bringing back a solid blocking receiver with knowledge of the offensive scheme was the choice the Vikings front office made.

Rather than having to teach a new wide receiver an entirely different playbook, the Vikings were more comfortable bringing in a receiver that will be able to play this week in Chicago. It is still likely that the Vikings will continue to utilize more 12 personnel, meaning they will have two tight ends on the field.

After seeing Josh Doctson be placed on the IR, and now Beebe tearing ligaments in his ankle, it will be interesting to see what the Vikings receiver room looks like a few weeks down the road.
