Vikings activate CB Patrick Peterson off IR

Earlier in the year, Minnesota lost its top cornerback, Patrick Peterson, to a hamstring injury. Now, is Peterson is back.

The Vikings activated the corner off injury reserve, the team announced Saturday. The Vikings corner had been back in practice this week after his injury.

For Peterson, Week 11 was the earliest he could return to the team. The Vikings placed him on IR during the bye week. Bashaud Breeland and Cameron Dantzler stepped up with Peterson out.

Currently, Breeland is questionable for Sunday’s game. Minnesota could still use the corner depth, and it’s not a given that Peterson will start and thrive right away, but Peterson’s return does make Breeland’s hypothetical absence less dire.

The Vikings also announced that they activated Myles Dorn as a COVID-19 replacement. Minnesota currently has three players — on either the active roster or practice squad — who reside on the COVID-19/Reserve list. S Josh Metellus is one of those players, so it makes sense that Dorn is getting the call-up.
