Vikigns sign former Packers, AAF LB Greer Martini

The Minnesota Vikings are adding a former Green Bay Packers linebacker who earned another chance in the NFL while playing in the AAF this spring.

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, the Vikings signed Greer Martini, who impressed during Packers training camp as an undrafted free agent last summer and then spent a month on the team’s practice squad to start the 2018 season.

Martini played in all four preseason games for the Packers last season, tallying  13 tackles and a pass breakup.

The Packers released Martini from the practice squad in early October, opening a spot for receiver DeAngelo Yancey.

The Salt Lake Stallions of the AAF provided Martini a second chance. He produced 55 total tackles (sixth most in the league), one sack and one interception over eight games.

Martini is one of five former AAF players to sign with Mike Zimmer and the Vikings since the league suspended all activities last month. He joins safeties  Derron Smith and Jordan Martin, cornerback Duke Thomas and defensive end Karter Schult.
