Vijay Hazare Trophy: Rohilla, Chauhan tons help Services stun Mumbai

Riding on superb centuries by their openers Subham Rohilla (135, 119b, 15x4, 4x6) and Ravi Chauhan (100, 120b, 11x4, 1x6) and their 232-run stand off 226 balls for the first wicket, Services handed domestic giants Mumbai a stunning eight-wicket drubbing in their second Vijay Hazare Trophy (One-dayers) match at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday.

A fine hundred (104, 122b, 13x4) by talented opener Yashasvi Jaiswal helped Mumbai score 264 for 9 in 50 overs against Services, for whom Diwesh Pathania took three for 4 8. However, Services had little trouble chasing down the target by the 46th over once Rohilla and Chauhan got going.

While Mumbai’s bowlers were brilliant just 24 hours ear lier against Bengal, whom they bowled out in just 31. 2 overs, they endured an ordinary outing on Sunday as the wicket eased out, with Aman Khan conceding 68 runs in 6. 3 overs while taking one wicket. Later, left-arm spin bowling allrounder Shams Mulani chipped in with 48 (58b, 5x4).

Jaiswal had slammed three consecutive hundreds and a 78 in the knockout stages of the Ranji Trophy in June. He had scored 266 runs in 10 games@33. 25 in Mumbai’s victorious Syed Musht aq Ali T20 Trophy campaign.

Mumbai now play Maharashtra in their third game on November 17.
