Vigil star Rose Leslie was eight months pregnant during filming and hid baby bump

Vigil star Rose Leslie was eight month pregnant during filming for the hit BBC show as she had to secretly hide her growing baby bump.

The Games of Thrones star, 34, stars as DS Kirsten Longacre in the gripping drama which follows the murky mysteries on submarine HMS Vigil, with the series filmed in Scotland.

The Scottish actress welcomed a baby boy with husband Kit Harington in February after the pair tied the knot in a lavish wedding in Aberdeenshire back in 2018.

In an episode of the Shrine podcast, it was revealed Rose was actually heavily pregnant and had to conceal her bump on set wardrobe tricks.

As the hosts wrapped up the podcast, host Brendan O'Loughlin said: "There was a lot of shootouts this week for the wardrobe guys on Vigil saying they did an amazing job at hiding Rose Leslie's ever-growing baby bump."

Co-host Rebecca Shekleton replied: "Well I didn't know she was pregnant".

It comes after the Scottish actress admitted she had to "keep apologising" to the backstage team for her sickness and nausea while filming.

Best known as Ygritte in Game of Thrones, she told the Express : "We were in a quarry in the middle of nowhere in the beautiful Scottish landscape.

"The vastness was out there in front of you, and I was feeling very queasy because I was about eight months pregnant.

"And just before I had to film my scene, I had to run behind a bush to be sick!

"So I kept apologising to the hair and make-up people whenever they came anywhere near me because of my breath!"

Vigil continues on BBC One on Sunday at 9pm.
