Vigil's Suranne Jones shares reason why she would never appear in Line of Duty

Vigil has been the series on everyone's lips recently - and it's definitely leaving us on the edge of our seats.

The BBC drama has been compared to the likes of Line of Duty, but actress Suranne Jones has revealed that she would turn down a role in the cop drama if she was offered one.

In the last episode of Vigil, the star's character Amy Silva was seen trapped in a missile compartment filling up with water - and fast - leaving viewers biting their nails in anticipation.

As Suranne plays a detective in the police force, many fans speculated that she could join Martin Compston in the cast of Line of Duty, but she said this wouldn't happen.

The Vigil star shared the reason ahead of the final episode coming this Sunday on BBC One - and has previously shot down any notion of her joining the Jed Mercurio police corruption drama.

Suranne, who shot to fame on ITV Coronation Street before quitting the cobbles for far more serious roles, will not be following Vicky McClure and Keeley Hawes into the offices of AC-12.

She explained: "You watch something like Line of Duty (and the police officers) reel off all of the procedural stuff.

"And it’s like, ‘I want to give you a medal’, as it’s so hard to do and she (LoD star Vicky McClure) does it brilliantly, as do all of the guys in Line of Duty."

Express.co.uk reported the star adding: "I wouldn’t rush to play another police officer because of those scenes, but this one (Vigil) is different."

BBC Vigil debuted four weeks ago, with back to back episodes on consecutive nights across the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Ever since, it has set social media alight with its tense storytelling and twists and turns.
