People are being urged to give their views on plans for a pedestrian crossing at a busy junction in Dumfries.
The council and engineering company Stantec launched an online public consultation this week on the proposals for the Troqueer Road and Pleasance Avenue junction near to Halfords in the town.
There were calls to make the roads accessible by concerned residents four years ago.
Abbey ward councillor Ian Blake said: “This is long overdue as there’s no pedestrian favour here at all.
“I am encouraging people to take part in this consultation. In 2017 I had a lot of people in the community contact me about the issues pedestrians faced crossing over these roads.
“I remember when we were getting the photo taken I tried to get across the road and there was no way I could with my crutches.
“We had to get someone to actually stop the traffic to get me across.
“It’s impossible to cross. It’s still the same.
“If you’ve got mobility issues or you’re pushing a pram you need to go down the hill and cross over at the Whitesands and come back up.
“That’s just ridiculous.”
Stantec say the current lights system is “nearing the end of its useful life and needs replaced” and have come up with three options, all of which include pedestrian crossings.
