Viewers slate Marks and Spencer's Christmas ad with some calling it the "worst ever"

Marks and Spencer has released it's 2019 Christmas ad, and despite the fact that it is an all-dancing, jumper-themed extravaganza, a lot of people have taken to social media to say they aren't impressed.

One particular viewer has even described it as "the worst ever".

In a post on Twitter the disapproving viewer addressed M&S, adding: "Who are you hoping to attract I wonder? Where is Christmas? It’s only an advert for jumpers."

The high-street giant launched its Christmas food advert yesterday, which stars well-known TV presenters Emma Willis and Paddy McGuinness.

Today, it unveiled its festive 2019 clothing and homeware campaign, which was directed by Jake Nava, the brains behind Beyonce’s Single Ladies music video.

The cheerful and high energy ad features a whole host of people dancing as they wear 50 different kinds of knitwear that shoppers can purchase in M&S stores in the run-up to Christmas.

All throughout viewers watch as the dancers get their groove on to House of Pain's toe-tapping classic Jump Around.

But, not everyone is a fan.

Another Twitter user posted: "More #Christmas bunkum on it's way. @marksandspencer ."

A second also had their say, writing: "M&S have released their Christmas ad... and it’s better than last year’s terrible advert. This year’s advert is weird. This is down to the crazy dancing, the music, and the story. I’m saying 4/10. I’m not really a fan of the M&S ads, tbh. #GoJumpers "

Across the festive season M&S is expecting to sell more than five million jumpers, with the ad sporting all the various colours, fabrics and designs the retailer has on offer.

Meanwhile, a third also said: "What even is the M&S ‘Christmas’ advert?? Biggest let down ever in terms of Christmas ads, it’s like they forgot to make one and when they finally realised they needed to do something, used the most terrible idea of the lot! #MarksAndSpencer "

Kirstiebcfc added: "The m&s Christmas advert is awful, makes me cringe."

However, not everyone was disapproving of the new festive campaign.

One user put: "Hoping someone will buy me a jumper for Christmas! What a fun advert. M&S launches 2019 Christmas advert showcasing festive jumpers."

Another simply tweeted: "Yeah … I like it. M&S #Christmas Advert."

On YouTube, Anna Bright also commented on the advert, writing underneath the M&S YouTube video that she "absolutely love it.

"I never wear jumpers but will be heading to M&S to get one tomorrow x." She added. "I’m dancing round the kitchen with my coffee & it’s cheered me up no end x thank you."
