Viewers slam Ireland's Got Talent after 39 member group BSD crowned winners

Some TV viewers have slammed Ireland’s Got Talent after dance group BSD were crowned winners.

Jason Byrne’s golden buzzer act topped the public vote and took home the €50,000 prize and an hour-long special on Virgin Media TV.

Last year saw dance group RDC winning the first season of the show.

BSD, from Swords, Dublin, consisted of 39 members aged between 10 and 17 years old.

But viewers took to social media to complain about another large dance troupe winning the show saying it was unfair.

Some people pointed out that Ireland is too small a country for a competitive show with large groups and allows public votes to choose the winner.

One person said: “Oh look, another BIG dance group won #GotTalentIRL...what a surprise I’d like to point out, there was SO MUCH MORE TALENT ON THAT STAGE and something needs to be done about the groups entering as the voting isn't fair, we’re too small a country.”

Another person said: “Not surprised, they need to change something, 2nd year in a row now that the top acts are groups, and obviously, the act with the most members won.

“Ireland is too small and votes should be divided based on how many are in the act. #gottalentirl”

A third person said: “@GotTalentIRL series 3 has to stop allowing mediocre dance groups through to the finals, they win on votes from the sheer amount of family/friends they have voting for them.

“It makes a mockery of the show. So disappointing #IGT #GotTalentIRL”

Other viewers said that dance group BSD throughly deserved their win.

BSD were up against Sharyn Ward, Rebel Acro, Jake O’Shea, Fly Youth, Fionn McMorrow, Sharon and Brandon and Sea of Change.

After eight weeks of auditions, three semi-finals, five golden buzzers and 150,000 votes, they secured their triumph with a polished hip hop performance to Confident by Demi Lovato.
