Viewers raving about new Irish murder mystery series Bad Sisters

Apple TV’s latest murder mystery series is a dark Irish comedy thriller set in Dublin.

“Bad Sisters” follows the lives of the Garvey sisters, who are bound together by the premature death of their parents and a promise to always protect one another.

The Garvey Sisters are motivated to murder their brother-in law due to his abusive relationship with their sister, and to rescue her from the horrific relationship.

The series stars executive producer of the show Sharon Horgan, alongside Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene and Eve Hewson as the five Garvey sisters.

The overbearing man in the story is a despicable south Dublin businessman John Paul Williams played by the Danish actor Claes Bang.

The first episode is fittingly titled: “The Pri#k” to reflect the horrible brother-in law.

Bad Sisters opens as Grace Garvey (Anne-Marie Duff) prepares for the funeral of her late husband, JP (Claes Bang),

When the insurance group starts looking into JP's death with the hope of avoiding paying out his claim, his accidental death starts to seem more and more intentional.

Each episode showcases one of the sisters, building out their backstory and presenting a new attempt on JP's life.

The story comes to life with charisma and each sister is individually an interesting character, but together they're a force to be reckoned with.

Some of the scenes in the series may appear familiar and filming took place around Ireland and England, in particular County Dublin, Belfast and London.

The Forty foot and Howth also appear, along with the Malahide.

The dark comedy is certainly getting both critics and viewers chatting.

The series is spread out over ten episodes, and the suspense leaves viewers on the edge of their seats.

Sharing the trailer for the series on Instagram, Sharon Horgan revealed the first two episodes of the series would drop on August 19th, followed by weekly episodes until the finale.

Horgan wrote: "Here’s the trailer for Bad Sisters. I’m sweating. So nerve wracking showing something new. But I love this and hope you’ll love it too. I need the toilet. Okay I’m back.

“We go out August 19th on @appletvplus First two episodes and then one a week after that until our finale. It’s been a joy but now it’s all about the watching.”.

Taking to Twitter, viewers of the series are giving rave reviews after watching the first four episodes, and detest JP as much as The Garvey sisters.

One pleased viewer said: “OMG… I have never wanted to join a murder pact until now. Best show of 2022 #BadSisters #AppleTV #iwouldkillhimtoo.”

A second said: “Is anyone else watching Bad Sisters? It’s a comedy drama show on Apple TV. It’s really good, and super funny. I highly recommend it.”

While a third said: “Bad Sisters is the only show I’ve watched all year where I didn’t look at my phone once.”

Another viewer said: "Oooooh I don’t think I’ve hated a character as much as John Paul in a while!! Blood boiling stuff! Those #BadSisters HAVE to take care of him!."
