Viewers of The Nest left craving a second season after burning question left unanswered

More than 600,000 Scottish viewers tuned into BBC One last night to watch the final episode of Glasgow-based thriller, The Nest.

The series was complimented by a star-studded cast, including Line of Duty actor Martin Compston and Harry Potter stars, Katy Leung and Shirley Henderson.

But as the show drew to a tense conclusion, viewers were left with an unanswered question, leading to speculation there could be another season.

The gripping surrogacy drama followed a self-made businessman, Dan (who apparently owns "half of Glasgow") and his wife, Emily, as they form a slightly uncomfortable relationship with a damaged young girl.

Dan and Emily, who can't have any children of their own, take troubled young 'Kaya' (who we later find out has a fake name to cover her dark past) to Ukraine, to illegally pay her to be inseminated with their baby.

After the baby is born, we learn that 'Kaya' has in fact been implanted with an unknown embryo, leaving the viewers with an unanswered question - what happened to Dan and Emily's actual embryo?

As the television series drew to a tense conclusion, viewers were left speculating on Twitter as to why the question wasn't answered.

So will there be a second season? There are currently no confirmed plans from the BBC to make a second season.

But with roughly four million people across the UK tuning in per episode, it is clear that the demand for a second season is there.

Hopefully we will find out what happens to Dan and Emily's embryo one day.
