Viewers 'feel sorry' for Gary Lineker as his new game show Sitting on a Fortune airs

Gary Lineker's new game show Sitting on a Fortune airs on ITV tonight.

The programme sees six players battle it out - with £100,000 at stake.

Contestants try to be in the right place at the right time to take away a potentially life-changing amount of money.

There are no lifelines or safety nets, meaning players must risk everything on getting the right answer in the hope of taking home the big prize.

It's a slightly different role for Gary - who we're used to seeing presenting Match of the Day and other BBC sporting events, as well as in adverts for Walker's crisps.

The ex-Tottenham striker is worth around £30m, according to the Daily Star.

Viewers who have tuned in for the first episode have flocked to Twitter to give their reviews.

And some say they "feel sorry" for Gary Lineker.

One wrote: "Why is he presenting a game show? Has he not got enough money or is he just copying Wrighty?"

Another said: "Feel sorry for Gary Lineker, he's clearly had to take on another job after having his BBC salary cut. Good luck to you Gary."

A third wrote: "Gary Lineker on a game show? He's obviously finding it tough managing his millions"

Others are loving his work.

One wrote: "I mean, @GaryLineker is just a natural isn't he?"

Another said: "What a great maiden show @GaryLineker #SittingOnAFortune Absolutely loving it, well done buddy"

Sitting on a Fortune airs Sundays at 7pm on ITV
