Many viewers were confused this evening as RTE's 9pm news program was all picture and no sound.
Those sitting down to see the headlines for the day noticed early on that the volume was not working, although visually the show ran perfectly.
For close to 20 minutes many viewers, most of which seemed to be using Sky, struggled to find a solution for the issue.
Although the RTE News Now channel on Sky did have normal volume.
People took to Twitter in their droves to question what exactly was going on.
TD Catherine Murphy said: "Expect RTÉ 9 News is going to trend on Twitter tonight. All picture no sound."
Janet Cooper added: "Well done RTE News, only 18 minutes to realise you were broadcasting without sound."
David Whelan joked: "We apologize for the lack of sound in this broadcast. If you can’t hear this apology we apologize for that too."
RTE have yet to say what exactly happened with the volume on the station.
