Viewers complain over BBC's commentary on Harry and William at Prince Philip's funeral

Viewers have hit the BBC with complaints about coverage of Prince Philip's funeral earlier this month.

The complaints are in regards to the broadcaster's analysis of brothers Harry and William.

Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh was laid to rest at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday 17 April.

Members of the royal family, including the Duke's children, took part in the funeral procession, with Prince William and Prince Harry walking with their cousin Peter Phillips between them as they followed the coffin.

After the service the siblings were filmed walking side by side back up the castle with Prince William's wife Kate.

The BBC has announced the company received complaints over the commentary of this, the Mirror reports.

In a statement shared on the BBC complaints board, it said: "We received complaints from people unhappy that Nicholas Witchell offered analysis about the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and the Duke of Cambridge, when reporting on the funeral of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh."

In response, the BBC stated that Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship "has been a focus of interest in recent weeks".

"Our Royal Correspondent, Nicholas Witchell, reported in detail on the funeral of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, reflecting its historic and national significance, remembering the life and achievements of the Duke, while also examining what this moment meant for The Royal Family," the BBC continued.
